What are Warmies?
Warmies are soft plush toy heat pack designed to be warmed in a microwave before use. Unlike conventional heat packs, the entire toy is placed in the microwave, rather than a removable insert.
The products are filled with natural grains, such as flaxseed, and dried lavender, which releases a mild scent when heated.
Once warmed, they are used to provide gentle heat for comfort, sleep support, and minor aches, and can also be cooled in a freezer for use as a cold pack.
How they began
Warmies were developed in 2000s by a UK based company Intelex Group Ltd, a manufacturer specialising in microwavable heat packs and wellness products. The concept was to create a safer alternative to traditional hot water bottles, and provide greater safety, comfort, and wellbeing for kids.
How long does the heat last?
Warmies are typically heated in a microwave for between 30 and 90 seconds, depending on the model and appliance wattage. Once heated, they provide warmth for around 40 to 60 minutes, with residual heat sometimes lasting longer (e.g. 1-2 hours) depending on conditions such as room temperature and how the product is used.
